Mini-MBA

The Graduate Management Consulting Association (GMCA), in conjunction with H2i is proud to announce our 2018 mini-MBA program!

This 10 lecture program will give graduate students and post-docs:

  • A grounding in fundamental business concepts
  • The opportunity to learn from business experts
  • The chance to apply this new knowledge to solving business case

The lectures will be presented by industry professionals from diverse backgrounds.

Course format:
The lectures will be taught by industry professionals with diverse backgrounds. Each class will consist of one-hour lecture on a specific topic, a mini group case practice on the same topic, followed by a group presentation of the solution. The course will cover concepts from the popular “Ten Day MBA” book, by Steven Silbiger. This year, the curriculum of MiniMBA program will cover:
  • Consulting Skills & Case Analysis
  • Marketing and Market Entry
  • Quantitative Analysis
  • Accounting
  • Organizational Behaviour
  • Finance
  • Operations
  • Economics
  • Strategy
  • How to Succeed in Case Competitions
At the end of the course, students will have the option to participate in a case competition, which will be judged by a panel of consultants.

Dates:
The program will run on U of T St. George campus on February 2, 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16, 21, 23, and 28. Lectures will be held from 6-8 pm. We will release locations and speaker information to selected members.
The case for the optional case competition will be released on Friday, March 2nd, 2018. Coaches’ Corner will be on Monday, March 5th, 2018, and the competition on Friday, March 9th, 2018.
The course book “Ten Day MBA” by Silbiger may also be purchased separately (soft/hard copy, recommended reading).
