H2i Ventures in the News: Neuropeutics, Quthero, Re:Pair Genomics, SPARKED, Pippen AI, Happy Cramps & Synakis

This spring, the H2i venture community has continued a record-breaking year of remarkable research, impressive business development and outstanding milestones. Across the country and on a national stage, H2i ventures are catching the attention of medical communities, competitive accelerator programs and investors alike…
Here are just a few of the incredible stories spinning out of the H2i community over the past month:
- Neuropeutics was recently announced as the recipient of the first Abbvie Biotech Innovator Award. SpinUP, UofT’s wet-lab accelerator, partnered with AbbVie (NYSE: ABBV) to run a national competition for the new award, part of SpinUP’s broader Blue Ticket Program. As the selected winner, Neuropeutics will receive a year of laboratory space and equipment from SpinUP at no cost, and access to support and mentorship.
- Quthero, Re:Pair Genomics and SPARKED have been selected as part of the latest cohort of early-stage ventures accepted into SpinUP! The cohort moves into SpinUP’s facilities as the lab celebrates its first year of operations. The teams will have access to SpinUP’s state-of-the art infrastructure, equipment and entrepreneurship programming as they continue their venture development and prepare for growth beyond the lab residency.
- Synakis and Neuropeutics were recently announced as recipients of BioHubNet’s inaugural VentureLift Grant. BioHubNet, housed at UofT’s Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy, is an immersive talent development program aimed at training 500+ HQP through immersive training initiatives and industry engagement. The VentureLift Grant provides trainee entrepreneurs with up to $25,000 per project for commercialization-enabling activities like business development, technical support, regulatory and compliance support & more.
- Pippen AI has been gaining incredible traction with a string of recent wins. Off the heels of their win at H2i’s 2025 FemSTEM Pitch Competition, the team recently won a spot in the NEXT AI 2025 Cohort, having been identified as one of the top early-stage teams in Canada developing ambitious AI-powered solutions. The team was also recently selected as a pre-qualified vendor for Canada Health Infoway’s AI Scribe Program, a national initiative that provides eligible primary care clinicians across Canada with access to fully funded, AI-powered documentation tools. This positions Pippen as one of nine vendors offering annual licenses for free to 10,000 primary care clinicians, with upwards of $15M available.
- Happy Cramps took home second place at the LevelUP Pitch Competition, hosted by Innovation Cluster Peterborough and the Kwarthas. The competition concluded LevelUP’s intensive 12-week accelerator program, which assists founders in taking their business from MVP to growth stage.
- Synakis won first place at pitch win at Eye Pitch, a competition which took place during the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) conference in Denver this month. The competition, held in collaboration with Alcon Seed Fund (ASF), awarded Synakis with the $25,000 first place prize. As a winner, Synakis now moves into the diligence phase with the ASF, for a chance to gain an investment up to $1M.
