In this session, Warren will share practical insights into fundraising, investor expectations, and what makes a venture attractive to investors. He will also explore strategies for scaling technologies across Africa and discuss recent trends shaping the African private equity and venture capital ecosystem.
Founders will gain a better understanding of investment readiness, common fundraising pitfalls, and practical strategies to position their ventures for sustainable growth and investment.

Meet the Speaker
Warren La Fleur is a technologist, investor, and entrepreneur with over 25 years of international experience at the intersection of technology, capital, and education innovation. As Founding Partner at Koya Capital and Co-Founder of Koya Nuclear Energy, Warren has developed impactful venture capital funds and advisory services investing in startups spun out of top African universities and research institutes.
He has advised governments and universities across Africa on innovation systems and research commercialization policy, and has invested in or advised over 10 SaaS and deep tech startups. Warren previously led higher education initiatives at LinkedIn and Microsoft, supporting digital transformation and entrepreneurship across the EMEA and sub-Saharan Africa regions.
He holds an NVCA/Berkeley Certificate in Venture Capital Investing, an MBA, and an MSc in Computer Engineering.
