Congratulations to H2i venture Elev8 and Perform, who has been selected as one of the top 12 student entrepreneurs in Canada through the Enactus Canada National Student Entrepreneur Competition!

The annual competition celebrates entrepreneurial young Canadians who are leading business ventures while balancing full-time studies. Each year, finalists pitch their businesses in national competitions, judged by Canadian industry leaders. This year, Enactus received 220 nominations for students from across the country. Elev8 and Perform was selected as a Top 12 Finalist from this competitive pool, a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication.

Elev8 and Perform is a sports health technology startup founded by Bren Kugamoorthy, an international athlete, Olympic trainer, sports medicine scientist and human rights prize winner for health advocacy nationally in exercise. Kugamoorthy is a prominent member of the UofT entrepreneurial ecosystem, as a member of H2i, Black Founders Network, and UTEST. In addition, he is actively engaged in UofT’s academic landscape, as a graduate assistant, physiology lab instructor, and a student in the Master’s of Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology program.

Elev8 and Perform is building a wearable device that helps to improve biological capacity to enable athletes of all levels to win and gain a competitive edge. Their BK device is designed to help enhance energy levels in the body during exercise. Users can gain faster progress, with a convenient device that empowers them with the confidence to reach their health goals. This innovative device is equipped with four mechanisms to help improve lung capacity, heart function, blood flow, and oxygen delivery, so users can recover faster and get more progress with less effort.

Of this recent accomplishment, Kugamoorthy shared: “It is truly an honor to be among outstanding startups and recognized nationally. This win is a big motivator for the momentum and traction we have built with our incredible team. Thank you to Black Founder Network, Efosa, Health Innovation Hub, Paul Santarre, NEXT36 (Mischa, Alex, Fletcher, and Kyle) and the UTEST team (Samantha, Hassan, and Kurtis). Exciting times lie ahead.”

Congratulations, Team Elev8 and Perform! We can’t wait to see what is next for you.
