Congratulations to Maman Biomedical for their 3rd place win at the Lions Lair Pitch Competition!

The Lions Lair Pitch Competition was the culminating event of the six-week Founder Fast Track program where a total of 40 companies developed and refined their pitching strategies. Following an intense speed-pitching finale, Maman Biomedical was among the ten startups selected to advance. Maman took home 3rd place and a $7,500 cash prize at the pitch competition on September 26th, which was streamed live on Cable 14.

Co-founder Latchmi Raghunanan reflected that, “the experience has been nothing short of fantastic. We have been pushed out of our comfort zones to become investor-ready, tell our stories to different audiences, and dive deep into our Go-to Market strategy, even as an early-stage life sciences company. This win will have a tremendous impact on our traction moving forward, especially as we are raising our first equity-based round of $250,000!”

Congratulations to Virtual POCT, who was recently profiled by Canadian Healthcare Network for their latest program: Mana!

Mana is a cloud-based program which is leveraging AI to better equip pharmacies in performing point-of-care testing (POCT). Virtual POCT founder and CEO Sousan Bagherpoor sat down with the publication to provide insight into her motivation and vision for the new quality management system. Bagherpoor was inspired to create Mana to facilitate the move of certain kinds of POCT from hospitals to community settings. Mana provides accessible consultation through a digital platform, where pharmacists can gain information, training and documentation to support the implementation of POCT in their pharmacies.

As Ontario considers authorizing POCT in pharmacies for a wider range of conditions, Mana is well poised to enable a broad scope of healthcare professionals to produce more accurate results, improving trust and access-to-care for their patients. Looking ahead, Virtual POCT will be launching their pilot later this year, with plans to go live in 2025.
