Aeson is a startup building novel, in-the-moment, non-pharmaceutical support for panic attacks and acute anxiety. Our solution complements existing counselling, accommodations, and clinical care by providing immediate, accessible support during moments when individuals are overwhelmed and unable to recall or apply coping techniques. Our approach centers on a novel system anchored by a discreet wearable technology paired with intelligent software. Together, the system delivers rapid mind–body interventions, personalized to each user’s immediate needs.

Padel Venture is an early-stage sports and recreation startup developing a dedicated padel club in Scarborough, a densely populated area with limited access to organized racquet sport facilities. The venture aims to make the fast-growing sport of padel accessible through court bookings, memberships, coaching programs, and community-driven events. Its model combines fitness, social recreation, and recurring revenue streams to create a scalable club concept that promotes active lifestyles while meeting demand in an underserved local market.

Tranquilo Wearables Inc.

Tranquilo Wearables Inc. is a health-tech startup developing a wearable smart bracelet and AI-powered app to help predict, prevent, and manage mental-health episodes. By combining physiological biomarkers such as heart-rate variability with real-time analytics, Tranquilo provides early warning signals and personalized interventions, bridging the gap between passive monitoring and proactive mental-health care. 

Tightbeam Photonics Inc.

Photonics makes low cost ground stations for space-to-ground laser communication. Our patented Adaptive Optics System on a Chip drastically reduces the size and cost of optical ground stations enabling the speed and security of fiber, anywhere on Earth.

Elastéra

We have developed an ultra-thin, soft, rubbery PDMS composite membrane in which a defect-free PDMS selective layer is deposited onto a mechanically robust porous support. Experimental results demonstrate that reducing the PDMS layer thickness by orders of magnitude relative to conventional self-supporting PDMS membranes leads to substantially enhanced mass-transfer rates, while maintaining chemical stability and mechanical integrity under liquid operation. The composite design decouples permeability from mechanical strength, enabling higher flux and improved separation performance without sacrificing selectivity.

YScope

YScope builds logging engines for AI-scale observability—where log data volume grows exponentially and legacy pipelines become cost- and latency-prohibitive. Unlike existing systems that treat unstructured logs as opaque blobs, YScope’s CLP extracts semantic structure, converts logs into a typed, semantically structured representation, and stores them in a structured, columnar format, and achieves 40×–500× compression while still allowing search and analytics without decompressing.

Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Program, Government of Canada.

The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax incentives program is the largest Government of Canada program supporting research and development in Canada. The SR&ED tax incentives are intended to encourage businesses to conduct research and development in Canada. There are 2 tax incentives: a) Claim a deduction against income, and; b)Earn an investment tax credit (ITC). Corporations, individuals, trusts, and partnerships that conduct eligible work may be able to claim SR&ED tax incentives for the year. Claimants should submit their SR&ED claim with their income tax return for the year.

TIAP – Toronto Innovation Acceleration Partners

Vector Institute (FastLane Program)

FastLane is a transformative program that enables startups to adopt AI or scale their existing applied AI capacity faster at lower cost and compete on a global scale. FastLane provides AI talent placement services, training events and cohorts related to AI, as well as certain early R&D projects in the form of medium/long-term engagements and cohorts.

BioHubNet

BioHubNet, funded by the Canadian Biomedical Research Fund, is an immersive talent development initiative addressing the critical shortage of highly qualified personnel (HQP) in Canada’s biomanufacturing and life sciences sectors. We equip HQP with the technical expertise and strategic capabilities needed to meet the sector’s growing demands. Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT)

The Centre for Research and Applications in Fluidic Technologies (CRAFT) is a partnership between the University of Toronto, the National Research Council of Canada and Unity Health Toronto to build a complete medical device value chain in Canada spanning R&D, commercialization, manufacturing, and clinical deployment. CRAFT enables interdisciplinary research with engineers, scientists and clinicians working together to build microfluidic devices in key application areas.

Henry N.R. Jackman Faculty of Law

Toronto Music Entrepreneurship Exchange

The Toronto Music Entrepreneurship Exchange (ToMEE) is a community of practice for faculty members, students, industry and sectoral partners to consider the opportunities and challenges in the music business.
