
Charles Tam
Charles Tam is a medical device industry professional bringing near 20 years of progressive leadership across regulatory affairs, compliance, and quality in Canada and internationally. He is the Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs, EEMEA and Canada, based at the of Edwards Lifesciences’ Canadian head-office in Mississauga, Ontario, the leading global structural heart innovation company.
Charles brings a robust Canadian cardiovascular medical device specialization in Special Access, Investigational Testing, and high-risk Class IV regulatory commercialization including combination drug-devices and biological tissue heart implants. Internationally, he leads the emerging focus business areas for the EEMEA international regulated markets spanning Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa. He is a long-standing member of the Regulatory Affairs Steering Committee and a Sub-committee Chair at MedTech Canada, the national association representing the medical technology industry. He sits on the Program Advisory Committee for Regulatory Affairs at the Northeastern University’s Toronto Campus and is also on the Institutional Advisory Board for the Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (ICRH-CIHR), Government of Canada’s primary agency for funding and investing in health research. He previously held progressive regulatory roles at Becton-Dickinson, Johnson & Johnson, and Abbott Laboratories. He holds a Honours B.Sc from the University of Toronto and an MBA from the Toronto Metropolitan University in Canada.
