Imagine a world where debilitating pain from arthritis, injury, or post-surgery can be treated instantly by your doctor without the need to take addictive drugs such as opioids? At DARA3D we are creating realistic and anatomically accurate 3D models of the human body through a research partnership with the Division of Anatomy at the University of Toronto. These anatomical models can be used by doctors to learn how to perform and perfect nerve block and denervation techniques to stop the feeling of pain originating from specific parts of the human body. Using our 3D models and simulation training software, doctors can safely develop skills outside of the clinical setting. They can practice a procedure hundreds of times and develop expertise in different techniques before ever performing the intervention on a real-life patient. This would mitigate risks to patients, better alleviate pain, and reduce the health and economic burdens to our society.
