Pediatric skull surgery is overdue for innovation. Each year, thousands of infants with craniosynostosis face long, invasive cranial vault remodeling procedures that have remained largely unchanged for decades. Ossentra, spun out of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), is rebuilding the surgical toolkit from the ground up. Our lead asset is a reusable, articulating handheld bone cutting instrument that delivers a level of precision and dexterity inside small incisions that conventional rigid tools simply cannot match. Developed at the Centre for Image-Guided Innovation and Therapeutic Intervention (PCIGITI) and advancing toward FDA clearance through the Class II 510(k) pathway, Ossentra is on a mission to make the most complex pediatric craniofacial surgeries faster, safer, and dramatically less traumatic for the youngest patients in the operating room.
